Homecall
Homecall has been providing a free service to people with varying degrees
of sight loss since 1985. Our aims are to enable independent living
and alleviate isolation by recruiting volunteers to visit visually
impaired people in their own homes. We operate this scheme in Dallington,
its surrounding villages and across all of East Sussex, helping over
300 blind and partially sighted clients.
All of
our volunteer
visitors are trained and matched one to one
with
a client on a long term basis. Visitors help by reading
letters, going for a walk together, helping with phone
calls, (but not personal
care, cooking or domestic work).
The list
is endless
as every client has different needs. Visitors are
tactful, helpful
and respecting
of the confidential nature of their work.
Do you know a visually impaired person who would like
to
use our service, or do you have the time to visit a
client
for just an hour each week?

D.A.D.S.
Dallington
Amateur Dramatic Society, known to members as D.A.D.S., the
society
has been running
for many years, putting on at least one
performance a year at the Old School in The Street.
Productions generally take place in the Autumn. As a small society, with a membership of around 30, they have gained a good reputation over the years, drawing a supportive audience. The stage was specially designed to be portable, but this has not stopped some clever & attractive sets from being conceived. Acting members are currently quite low, and they are hoping
to attract new members . Performances from actors over the years have been well received by audiences. Most plays tend to be comedies with the occasional thriller or drama. The programme for this year has included several other events open to the public.
