Following-on from the very successful 2006 and 2008 Dallington Sugar Loaf Proms, we are reliably informed that Sue Simms is thinking of doing it again this summer. (Sue, increase the dose, the medication obviously isn't working.)

Life in Rother in the 30s, 40s and 50s
Have you lived in Rother any time during the 30s, 40s and 50s? If so we would love to hear from you.

We are a local group engaged in a National Heritage project in partnership with Rother District Council and others to explore people's memories and stories about life in rural Rother from 1930-1960.

If you are interested and would like to know more, please call Jane on 01424 718048 or Rachel on 07714 006834.

Trading Standards - Dallington calls time on doorstep callers
The village of Dallington in East Sussex is leading the fight against rogue traders by being the first in the County to be designated as a ‘No Cold Calling Zone’.
East Sussex County Council’s Trading Standards Service, the Safer Rother Partnership, In Touch Home Improvements Agency Hastings and Rother and Sussex Police are working together to set up the Zone and are calling on Dallington Villagers to take part.

Setting up a No Cold Calling Zone is a warning to cold callers to stay away and a way of informing residents about ways to deal with unexpected callers.  The village now has new signs to warn cold callers about the scheme.

The Zone was officially launched by the Safer Rother Partnership at the Village Hall, Old School, in Dallington on Thursday 22 June 2007.  If you want advice about crime prevention you can obtain a No Cold Calling Zone Pack from your Neighbourhood Watch Co-ordinator.

Cheapest Petrol Prices
I have found the following website which I think is very useful. It tells you where the cheapest petrol and diesel are being sold in our area.

You register on the website (it's free). Go to the Home Page, type in your Postcode and whatever radius you want it to cover and for which type of fuel, unleaded, diesel etc and it gives you the day's cheapest pump prices.
Well worth a look I think.

Dallington Postcard

We have produced a sepia-toned postcard showing the schoolchildren in the Street, Dallington c1900. To my knowledge this image has never been reproduced before. Some people in the village have already bought some copies, but we would like to sell more to try and get our money back for printing costs, plus give any profits to the church.

Cards costs 20p each or 12 for £2 and can be bought from Mrs Lyon, Old Rectory, Dallington, TN21 9NH or from the church (please put money in tin provided).
